The Project SISSI – Intermodal integrated system for safety and rail signaling , co-funded by the Region of Tuscany PAR FAS 2007-2013 with the call ” Public notice for expression of interest for the project support strategic industrial research and experimental development of Tuscan businesses in ICT and advanced mechanics “.
The project lasted 36 months and includes partners that unites the leading companies in the sector. The partnership consists of Thales Italy ( Lead ) , CNIT – National Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunications, SelexElsag and SICE. Under the coordination of the partners involved in the development of the project also: University of Florence – MICC , Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna , Alitec, Consortium TiCom and I2T3
The project produces devices that promote the development of the railway sector and tram, in terms of safety and reliability of service, resulting in greater appeal for consumers, encouraging modal shift (from tire iron) for both freight and mobility private, in a perspective of greater environmental sustainability. The logical design favor the relationship between public research and private research, ensuring non-discrimination and gender equality and promoting not only the increase in units engaged in research but also the professional growth towards technical and scientific skills to the state of art (thanks to close cooperation with the OR).
