NUTSHELL@CE: project activities kick off for more accessible transportation in rural Central Europe

The kick-off meeting of NUTSHELL@CE (Strengthening Public Transport to Enhance Accessibility in Rural Central Europe) under the priority “Cooperating for a Better Connected Central Europe” was held in Ostrava, Czech Republic on the 4th and 5th of September 2024. The meeting brought together 12 partners from 8 countries (Italy, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, and Germany) to start project activities and ensure a clear understanding of the project’s approach and work plan, including management, communication, and technical activities.

The host partner, the Department of Transportation of the Moravian-Silesian Region, organised the first day of the meeting at the impressive Slezké Rudoltice castle, near Ostrava. Presentations on the first day covered activities aimed at enhancing the technical and policy-making capacities to integrate spatial and transport planning in rural and peripheral areas, along with an explanation of the PTSQC dataset, based on geographic information systems.

The partners then participated in an interactive session to identify possible stakeholders for the co-creation of a vision for the use of geospatial data for integrated land-use and (public) transport planning.

The second day of the meeting was held in a conference room in Ostrava at the office of KODIS and was dedicated to project monitoring, management, and reporting. During this session, the first steering committee of the partnership discussed the next project meetings, commitments, and issues.

We at Resolvo are excited to begin this journey with such a large and diverse partnership and work together towards the goal of improving accessibility in rural areas of Central Europe.
