During the 90th SEA FESTIVAL, Interreg Europe MINEV project partners convened from 25 to 27 July in Klaipėda, Lithuania. It was a unique opportunity for the partners to conduct a case study on the event, where all members acted as ‘consultants’. Additionally, the partners took part in the Sea Festival procession.
‘Waste Minimization in Large Events’ is the full title of the project, which started in March 2023 and aims to strengthen the policies and strategic tools of the different partner territories in order to identify and standardise possible actions for waste minimisation in the course of large events.
Two workshops on the exchange of good practices were also held:
- Minimisation of waste in the design phase of a cultural event. Focus: Reuse or procure/lend used infrastructure elements, temporary installations and cooperate with local stakeholders to avoid waste after the event.
- Reducing waste at source and during the event set-up. Focus: Elimination of single-use items, comprehensive waste collection systems, behavioural incentives, waste plans, food planning, monitoring and optimisation.
