WESTERN BALKANS PARTICIPATION IN EU COOPERATION PROGRAMMES AND COLLABORATION POTENTIAL IN THE CONTEXT OF SMART SPECIALISATION STRATEGIES

Objective of the Service

This service aims at investigating the participation of Western Balkans in the EU cooperation programmes and the potential of the S3 domains in collaboration activities in the region and across the EU.

The service identifies 3 sub-objectives:

• To analyse participation of the Western Balkans in the EU programmes that promote Cross-border, Transnational and Interregional Cooperation, with direct relation to research and innovation in the fields of the Smart Specialisation Strategies in the Western Balkan countries.
• To investigate, based on participation patterns in Interreg cooperation programmes, the potential for collaboration in the fields of smart specialisation, in the Western Balkan region and across the EU.

To investigate possible mismatch/alignment between the S3 domains identified/being investigated by each Western Balkans economy and Western Balkan participation in innovation related cooperation projects.

The role of ResolvoResolvo Srl provides all the necessary support facilities to the team of experts during the whole execution of the service.

Task 1: Work plan, data collection and preparation of a methodological proposal to be discussed with the JRC representative for the contract.

Task 2: Analysis of the participation of Western Balkans in the EU programmes that promote Cross-border Cooperation, Transnational Cooperation, Interregional Cooperation.

Task 3: Analysis of the potential for collaboration in the fields of smart specialisation processes, in the region and across the EU;

Task 4: Analysis of the main mismatch and alignment between the S3 domains identified/being investigated in each Western Balkans economy and the WBs participation in innovation related cooperation projects.
